SBA Aisu Hime MacLeod - her name means ice princess in Japanese which I chose to have something reflecting her white but not the normally used Japanese names. Little did I know it would partly reflect her personality, I should have learned by now that Akitas tend to live up to their names. Aisu is also known as "white devil" or "echinsu orcha" - white devil from the second Ace Ventura movie is a bit of a spaz! She is 110 miles an hour all the time. Aisu is a sweet smart dog that is constantly on the move and when she stands still she is about to bubble over with so much excitement that she just absolutely must hold your hand in her mouth while she paws at you. Aisu is a barker, partly inherited from her mother I think, who I later found out was also a barker that needed a bark collar, and partly due to being self conscious because of her first two months with her breeder and lack of human contact there. Aisu is very much like Wicket in that regard who also came from the same breeder with the same issue. (These traits have not, however appeared in her puppies partly because the males she is paired with are calm and laid back and more importantly because my puppies are raised in my home, rather than a pen. To date, I have never received anything but compliments on Aisu's puppies as they have not inherited her less than ideal character flaws, nor have I received a complaint regarding any puppy temperament that I have ever produced as proven by the testimonials shared on my Reference page, thus proving Aisu's behavior was learned at an early age, with her breeder, and not a genetic flaw. This is why my puppies are raised inside my home rather than a pen outside and of the litter she has produced thus far, none have shared this issue.) If you are a visitor to my home, do not expect to pet Aisu as it takes her at least a week or two to warm up to know people enough to allow them in close proximity to her. If she is outside during your visit, it is likely she will bark at you the entire time unless you are here for a while and she forgets that you are standing there but when you move she will begin barking again. This is different if I take her somewhere else on lead, she will approach new people although she is not thrilled about it, especially so at the lake.
Aisu loves toys. When she can't hold your hand in her mouth, she totes around squeaky toys of various shapes, sizes and material. She doesn't prefer any one over the other, she likes rubber and cloth as well as balls. She will play with just about anything, especially if another dog wants it, that makes it that much more special of a find! She is very coordinated with toys and can manipulate them between her paws as well as her mouth very well. She is not so much into fetch but loves the chase in group fetch but then she is chasing the dogs rather than the toy.
Aisu is white with red shading, most obvious on the rims of her ears and by her dark pigmented eyes, lips and especially nose as pure whites have liver noses. She has a great coat and decent build. Aisu does not have the typical too soft coat that you find in whites which I attribute to her pigment of red shading also adding the correct coarseness to her fur. Her head piece is very nice with good cheek and nice thick well-furred ears. She is fairly tall but impossible to get an exact measurement on because if you try to measure her she gets so excited thinking it is a game that she burst out into wiggles. She is approximately 90 pounds when carrying the most weight of the year so a VERY respectable size for a female Akita as she is at the top of the standard on weight and height. She is extremely agile and if she were any larger, her weight would slow down her ability to move fast in any direction as she can. She is currently at her optimum weight.
