DOB:  06/2010

Keeper was born to Dan and Katana.  I had already decided I wanted to keep a female out of this litter and picking was made easy as she was the only one!  Sometimes that doesn't work out so well when there isn't anything to pick from but this was not the case with Keeper.  She was a plump little furbaby that turned into a well proportioned pup who is a happy-go-lucky girl.  I could not be happier with my new little girl.  She is very flashy and has traits from both parents that compliment each other.  I can't wait to see what this big girl turns into as she matures.  She will be shown, on a limited basis, as trusted handlers become available.  She has her mother's build, tail, face, and beautiful dark eyes.  She has dad's markings and exceptional coat; the rest remains to be seen.

Keeper is just one of those special dogs.  Maybe that is because she is the daughter of one of those special dogs, I'm not quite sure but she's the kind of dog who makes you know you are loved when you are around her.  She has a strong ability to digest your emotions and share in them with you, one of those intuitive gifts had by Akitas that I think make them so special and so different than other dog breeds.  She's the kind of dog that makes you want to spoil her rotten with all the gifts and treats you can afford to buy, and sometimes more, not because she is needy of them but just because she loves you so much you want to show her you feel the same way.  I try not to spoil her because she can turn a bit bratty if I do.  I don't give her more than her share of mommy time although I admit I probably would accidently if I didn't focus on avoiding it.  But when she is not with me, she keeps me in her line of sight whenever possible, even if it means staring through a window at me because another girl is getting their inside bonding time with our family.  Not everyone gets to see this side of Keeper because she is so devoted to me she has become quite the fierce protector but anyone that is around Keeper for any amount of time witnesses her obvious devotion to me and for that I love her even more!  I won't say she's always a good girl, sometimes she does things that make me crazy like digging under the occasional fence, but when she does them I know it's simply because she is trying to get back to me; how can you stay mad at a dog like Keeper?  What can I say, I am smitten!

Behavior:  As a pup Keeper is a perfect girl.  She is happy go lucky, super playful, loves to wrestle and hug.  She is much like her mother without being so territorial and serious around other animals.  She is marked like her dad and built like her mother.  She is playful and loves stuffed animals but does not destroy them, also like her mother.  She is fascinated with my neighbors horse which she barks at when he comes to see her (he is very social) and even her bark sounds just like her mother.  Keeper is happy to play with whoever is in the mood and if no one is prepared to play with her she will grab a stuffed animal and entertain herself.  She plays hard and crashes hard and when she whipes herself out, you can usually find her in superman pose as she sleeps flattened on the ground like a pancake.  Stay tuned as Keeper grows up.  I am sure that she will be a big beautiful girl with tons of personality.

Update: just barely turning ten months old Keeper entered her first two shows.  After only being on lead at two handling classes prior to the show, she has picked up not only leash training but the show spirit with a flash.  Her first weekend out Keeper placed over an adult bitch for Reserve Winners Bitch.  Way to go Keeper and thanks to judge Diane Landstrom!!!
