Why that name?
Sensei
hails from Mattheson, Colorado. We rescued him and his two littermates, Geisha and Sumo from the "breeder". The breeder had been shut down by the Colorado branch of the USDA for what we have been told was 37 counts of animal cruelty and neglect between 3 horses and many many Akitas. We recognized these faces right away as being distantly related to our own dogs so we decided to schedule a transport for them for the 14 hour journey to us, with the help of one of our Colorado repeat puppy buyers, Monica Kieber and her daughter, Alix - A BIG THANK YOU TO THE KIEBER FAMILY who spent their weekend helping us save these poor dogs! We would also like to thank Ann Simmons for facilitating this move!Sensei appeared to be the most physically healthy, only being a bit thin for his age, however his damage was due to emotional neglect and lack of human contact. Due to his solitary confinement in a run by himself with wooden privacy walls on all sides, preventing him from seeing out, he would drop to the ground and was completely terrified of people or anything that moved other than his sister, Geisha. We were told that the three of them got along fabulously; however, this was quickly proven not to be the case as the boys fought immediately and have remained happier separated ever since. Sensei actually prefers the security of being in a crate and will only come out when coaxed with a leash to relieve himself! It is obvious when people approach him, and he cowers, that he is preparing to be beaten!
We believe that with alot of work of a sensitive hand, we can bring Sensei around and make him feel comfortable in our home!!! Please research your breeders - this boy's "breeder" has sold hundreds of puppies all over the country for years and years and her offspring, often, does as well!!!!
....AFTER 1 YEAR: We were able to bring Sensei around and not only can he walk now but he can eat in groups, gets along well with female dogs and is quite a love bug. However, we were able to see that he would do better in a smaller environment so that he could progress even further and we found the perfect one for him!

Sensei moved to Houston, TX to share a home with Dr. Aimee Allaman! He is quite happy there and will start more extensive obedience training soon and even gets along with frequent visitor, Aimee's "nephew" a male GSD :-) WAY TO GO AIMEE AND SENSEI!!!
