At two years of age, Star has never been bred and we have no breeding plans for her at this time.
Star was one of 9 home bred pups born 12/3/2009 and 12/4/2009 to JR and Kari
Her name is a play off of both her exotic coat, and her mother's name. Star's mother, Kari's, name is Hoshihikari which means "starlight" in Japanese. I used Star from that as we expect she will be one and added in stripes to be both patriotic and as a reference to her brindle coat.
I knew right away I wanted to keep her when I saw that exotic red brindle coat, even though it was obvious at an early age that she would not be the pick of the litter, as I had let other people have the last two red brindles I had bred and they are quite rare and for good reason as they are beautiful! Star actually ended up being the "least desirable" of the nine puppies in her litter but red brindles are my particular favorite brindle pattern so I wasn't letting another one slip through my grasp, especially when her parents are both exceptional dogs! As an adult, I expected her to have a nice blend of her parent's size, build in looks, so I really can't go wrong! I was right! Although Star is still growing and maturing she is turning into a beautiful girl.
Star has a very middle of the road personality. She is certainly no where near the alpha puppy, which is to be expected as she was dwarfed by many of her littermates, but she isn't shy either. She is happy and playful and a well adjusted and I refer to her as my "get-along girl" because she can literally get along with anyone I put her with to play. I expected her mother's lab like personality to come out in Star quite a bit as she got older and I was again right. She loves everyone she meets and will gladly wait for her chance to kiss you and give you a hug when you come to our home! I couldn't be happier with my sweet girl!
