"Z"

At a year and a half of age, Z was adopted by the Roberts family of New River, AZ!

    Why that name?:  I had recently seen this video on Facebook when I picked up Z.  I had no idea what I would name him but it didn't take long with Z before his spastic personality showed through.  He was all over the car the entire way home, except when he would go to sleep on our luggage and rest his head on the back of the head rest; it was quite the interesting drive from Little Rock to Phoenix.  Right after Z had a total blow out in my lap and was quite thrilled about it, ZZ Top came on the radio.  I knew at that instant that Z would be Z - short for ZZ Top, and his tuxedo like coat was perfect to be called "Sharp Dressed Man".  Z's behavior so much reminded me of the drummer in this video that I found the Youtube link to share it with you.  Enjoy....

    I wanted Z because he is the grandson of my Roki and great nephew of my Misty.  Then I saw the beautiful dogs behind his father, Noku's, pedigree as well and knew Z had to be mine.  As a furbaby, Z was a challenge, very food dominant and super possessive of toys, except with Sierra, but after about a month with Katana's puppy kindergarten, Z turned into the most awesome Shiba personality that I have.  Z is still fairly possessive of toys and food but not so much that he cannot free feed in a group.  He stays in my large pack with several Akita females, as well as an Akita male and Shiba male.  He is a talker is a major way.  When you say his name excitedly or when he sees you coming toward him he takes off running toward you with his ears flattened back as if to gain momentum by making himself more aerodynamic.  Like grandpa Roki, Z is an excellent fetcher and loves his toys, stuffed or rubber and he does not destuff them but more like he cherishes them!  Z is a great swimmer as well and took to the water with ease his first time in the lake at four months old.  He was a natural and couldn't decide whether he wanted to keep swimming or play with all of the children around him.  Z is an excellent jumper despite how stocky he is but he only jumps when you raise your arms which is our command for him to jump; he does not jump on you otherwise.  He does however hop in your lap (major lap dog) every time you sit down in his presence, sometimes with great speed and when you stand he places his paws on your knees to say hello and get his rubbs in.  Z has never met a stranger and because of his zeal for life, everyone that meets him loves him instantly.  We look for great things to come from this stocky love bug when he enters the show ring so watch out for our SHARP DRESSED MAN!
